Self-Care During This Quarantine
Hello to all the people that read my blog. I am finally typing up this blog. I have had this idea for this blog since last month. It took me a while to decide and go forward on posting this blog. This pandemic is a sensitive topic to talk about. Some people believe that the stay at home order and social distancing is the best thing while others think it's not necessary for a cold like the flu. I believe that this stay at home order and social distancing is the best thing to do. I have been social distancing since March 12th which means I am on day 51. On this blog, I am going to share things that I have been doing to take care of myself at home. We need to take care of ourselves mentally and physically.
--Take a break from the news--
Checking social media and the news constantly starts to bring a dark cloud over you. I was guilty of doing this and I noticed it was bringing the negativity in my life.Checking on the statics and the news 24/7 can cause you to become overwhelmed. I set a rule for myself to only check the news twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening but I also added a time limit. Social media I only check 4 times a day because it something I use to message with my family and friends.
--Exercise--
This stay at home order it is hard to get exercise. I am very fortunate to have a house with a semi-big yard. My respect for the people that are surviving this in apartments/small living space. I exercise twice a day outside for 40 minutes. When the weather changes from hot to cold I exercise in my house. I would recommend blogilates, Danielle Peazer, and Sarahbethyoga. Any kind of exercise helps boost the immune system. And also helps reduce stress and anxiety.
--Make time to unwind--
We have always said we needed that extra time to start a project or learn a new hobby, etc. We can't spend our entire time watching television. Try reading a book, writing, painting, drawing, yoga, or even decluttering. These types of things help fight boredom.
--Learn a new language--
Since last year I downloaded an app called Duolingo. The reason it was downloaded for I can learn High Valyrian. When Game of Thrones ended I had an idea to learn High Valyrian for I can be like Targaryen. During this time I added German and Korean. Hopefully, this goes well.
--Eat Healthy--
It's been hard for me to eat healthy during this quarantine. I have gained a couple of lbs and I hate it. I have been choosing to eat very unhealthily. Today is my first day starting to eat healthier and have portion control. We have to keep in mind eating bad foods makes us sluggish while healthy foods benefit us more.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading this blog. These are my tips from what I have been doing from going completely crazy. Stay safe guys. Bye. :)
P.S Thank you to all the frontline workers and essential workers.
--Ginny
